interesting to revisit functional consumer design items -- at one point in the 80s I collected every variation of canned green peas -- finally removed all the labels and left the tin cans in my graduate-studio-kitchen... /:b

This is fantastic! Visual flashbacks are so fun! I just bought some Nevr-Dull last week for restoring a printing press. I love that products that are 40+ years old work better than the 'quick-fixes' of today. That press is more reliable than my 5 yr. old car!

Wonderful collection of images.
COLA - alpha beta is a mighty compelling package design. It doesn't get much better than that.
However, I would love to have been in the room when the CMO drew a Venn diagram on the white board - in one circle "electronic media" in the other "breakfast condiments", where they cross over...VIDEO Strawberry Preserves. Brilliant!

I found the Elvetta (!) hair net box bothersome because it doesn't actually depict a hair net and so I went back for a second look:
