Submissions

Observatory includes the essays and commentary published on Design Observer published between 2003-2012, with an archive of over 1,100 essays. The focus of this channel is essays and commentary on design and visual culture, and the publishing cycle includes 2-3 new essays a week, plus Gallery features (Today, Slideshows, Collections, etc.). Observatory is edited by Michael Bierut, William Drenttel and Jessica Helfand.

How can I contribute a feature to Observatory?
We welcome your suggestions for feature stories or essays. If you’re pitching an essay, please submit one to two paragraphs describing the subject matter and relevance to Observatory; also send copies (or links) of your previously published material. All queries should be sent to designobserver [at] winterhouse.com. We will make every effort to respond promptly.
